The main purpose of the Wildlife Ecological Research is to study the needs and behaviour of wild animals in ecological contexts, thus establishing the scientific basis for efficient nature conservation, animal welfare, environment protection and for sustainable agriculture, forestry, hunting, and land-use.

Faculty of Forestry conducts research on a long-term, interdisciplinary, and international basis at different levels: individuals, populations, ecosystems. A variety of methods are employed - from simple observations up to detailed microhabitat analysis, conservation and protection acts.

Based on sound research results, the faculty develops feasible concepts and solutions, in order to preserve suitable wildlife habitats in diversely utilized cultural landscapes, to reduce conflicts of interest and problems caused by wild animals.
